  • Statement on Climate X Consent
    January is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). All of us at the Sexual Violence Prevention & Response Office (SVPRO) have agreed that one month is not enough, so it is our intention to make January a kick off month, for an entire calendar year of exploring the theme: Climate X Consent.

    We need to talk about something incredibly difficult. We know it can be hard to read and engage with this content, especially when you or someone you care about has experienced or been impacted by gender-based violence.

    Individual safety actions actually aren’t inherently bad or wrong, but the conflation with why and how sexual violence occurs is concerning. Safety tips are focused on what individuals can do to try and avoid harm, but erase the choices made by the person causing harm.
